Hat Trick Friday

It's a hockey reference, folks. It's NHL playoff season...go 'Canes!

Anyway, as I'm going to be away from internet access this weekend, and I had lots of things to show you, there are three new posts following this brief announcement.

Thanks for looking! See you next week.

The Boys are Back in Town

Well, actually, they're here for the first time! Meet Fauna's twin boys, born Wednesday:

Sibling Play

Right after Shasta's baby was born she and baby were given their own digs for a little while. Phifel (Shasta's brother) needed a little reassurance that he and sis' could still play. Shasta was feeling calm enough about baby that she decided to humor him. This is a fraction of what ensued.

Goat Trampoline

This is one of the things you see when you lie on your back in the grass and let a little baby mini goat jump on you like a trampoline:
And you see this:
And this:
Here's one of the dismounts:
I have some other funny shots of just ears, or neck, or extreme close-ups of nose that I may post at a later time. The girl thinks this game is a hoot!

Does this even need a title? Or explanation?

She is getting more coordinated...Saturday she couldn't do this without falling over!
Action shot!
Ah, nothing like a mother's love.

More Cuteness

Just in case you didn't get enough cuteness yesterday...here's more baby pix! This is to show you size...Shasta (momma goat--who's a mini LaMancha) is probably just under two feet tall at her back. She does love her baby! I wasn't over there this morning when the little one was playing wildly, but apparently Shasta was being quite protective.
She sleeps well...

*Cuteness Warning*

WARNING! THE FOLLOWING POST VASTLY EXCEEDS THE CUTENESS QUOTIENT ALLOWED ON THIS SITE. CONTINUE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!Meet the new kid on the block. She was born yesterday. I think her official name will be Chantilly Lace-a-Go-Go...but then again, that may not be definite yet.
I met her today. She is totally and unbelievably cute. Seriously.
That's Shasta, her mom, licking her and keeping an eye on me. Shasta's already a good mom. Fortunately, she's used to me, and didn't seem upset by my presence. The little one's already curious and very outgoing. She started over to see me, but hit a patch of sun and was hypnotized. She pretty much fell asleep on her feet ;D
I don't think I can stand it. I'm verklempt. Talk amongst yourselves...

Come on Spring!

Well it sure doesn't feel like spring right now! But, I'm hopeful that someday soon we'll get more and more warm temps. In the meantime, I thought I'd share some lovely flower pix. I had fun taking some close-ups of the tulips my wonderful coworkers gave me for my birthday:I confused my camera and got a fun little effect here..the wall in the background is really white.

This lovely iris, along with many relatives and friends, is blooming in my parents' yard.
I was going to go to an outdoor Easter drama tonight, but as the temps are supposed to drop into the 30's with 25-30 mph winds, I'm thinking maybe we'll go tomorrow or Saturday night instead!

Have a great day!

Random Critter Cuteness

Aren't silhouettes fun? The wind and sun cooperated nicely for this shot.Is there any creature on the planet that sleeps better than a cat? I think not. Allow Willow to demonstrate:
It's important to have toes and nose properly aligned, being certain to allow for maximum display of pinkness.
When not asleep, it's vital for the cat to be ever vigilant to the comings and the goings of the neighborhood, as demonstrated by Oz. Nothing should happen out there without his approval.

Tarheels Victory

When you grow up in ACC country, men's college basketball is serious stuff. How satisfying when your team goes all the way and takes the National NCAA championship! And one of the Carolina Tarheels' most devoted fans was cheering all the way:
More soon on how Phil sings the fight song.

Animal Kingdom

That's right...we went to Disney's Animal Kingdom while we were in Florida. It was terrific fun. Ole' Walt knew what he was doing when he created his empire, and it's definitely fun for kids of all ages. The shows are Broadway quality. Here's a peek at "The Lion King".
And here's a peek at the real lion king! The safari ride was fabulous. We were still early enough during the day that most of the animals were active. Except for the lion. He was catching some rays and enjoying a snooze. You have to look closely to see his back and part of his mane. He's in the grassy area under the tree.
Elephants were roaming about...
And here's your test for the day....how many giraffes do you see? They certainly do camouflage nicely, don't they?

Gone to the Dogs

I've been in love with greyhounds for years now, Phil being our second retired racer. I've learned much about the racers, and watched videos of them run...but never been to the races in person. Until now. On our recent visit to Florida, we went here:
And saw this:
And this:
And this....poetry in motion:
More on all the action later. Have a greyt day!
SotD: "You Want Me To" by Sarah McLachlan. Picked up a great one yesterday: Vol. 2 of her "Rarities, B-Sides, and Other Stuff". Must have gotten other songs of hers percolating in my subconscious.
Oh, yeah, btw: I didn't get a chance Wed. night or yesterday morning to yell: WHOO-HOO!!! We're goin' to see U2!!!! Got faboo' tix for the Charlottesville, VA show in October. Can hardly wait.
